He is a renowned laparoscopic and robotic surgeon, pioneered robotic bariatric surgery in Europe, performs live robotic surgery on a regular basis in international meetings, organized and directed himself several international conferences, he is an international proctor of Intuitive Surgical Inc for robotic surgery, and a consultant of Medtronic and Cambridge Medical Robotics for the development of their upcoming robotic surgery systems.

Dr. Carlos Vaz is now serving at Hospital CUF Infante Santo, and at CUF Oncology Institute, both part of the private leading healthcare group in Portugal, José de Mello Saúde (CUF hospitals and clinics group). His current positions are:
