CHU in Strasbourg is a sector called hospital to provide routine care to the population of Strasbourg and its surroundings.

CHU in Strasbourg has its advanced equipment and its academic character.

The Strasbourg University Hospital welcomes patients regardless the duration or the care they need :

• Short term care, concerning the specialities of medicine, surgery, gynaecology-obstetrics
• In psychiatry, CHU has 3 services in which they welcome patients for consultations or hospitalizations. They also have a service specialized in the care of the child and the adolescent.
• Long term care welcomes patients whose condition requires constant monitoring and for which the assistance of a third person is necessary in everyday life.

The academic character of the CHU translates in training of the staff (doctors, nurses and orderlies...) but also of teachers (teachers of medicine, trainers in nursing...). CHU has privileged relations with the Faculty of medicine, pharmacy and dentistry. Students are welcome throughout their years of study within the different care services. Today CHU has 7 schools and institutes, divided into 10 sectors of education, to train health care personnel. These courses include more than 1,200 students.

Clinical research is one of the priorities identified by the medical project 2012-2017.
