Almazov National Medical Research Centre is one of the biggest medical institution of the Saint-Petersburg. The center includes research institutes and clinical departments.

Bariatric surgery is represented by a multidisciplinary team united by a research laboratory of surgery of metabolic disorders. On the basis of the Endocrinology Institute and the research laboratory of surgery of metabolic disorders, a surgical department has been established to deal with the surgical treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, as well as the causes of the onset, methods of preventing obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

We perform about 100 operations a year, specialize in complex patients with cardiovascular complications, patients with superobese, and treatment of patients with complications after bariatric surgery.
