About

• Bariatric, metabolic and pediatric surgeon in the high-volume bariatric referral centre ZNA Stuivenberg/Cadix, Antwerp Belgium.
• Besides standard bariatric procedures (RYGB, Sleeve, SADI,..) we also perform many redo-surgeries (conversions, weight regain, complications).
• In 2017 we set-up the first endoluminal/endobariatric program in Belgium and performed 400+ endoscopic sleeve gastroplasties, TorE, ROSE procedures so far and trained many surgeons in Europe.
• We believe endobariatrics are of added value to the standard bariatric practice in well selected cases with thorough follow-up. It will not replace bariatric surgery but will stand aside. It also brings the flexible endoscope back to the surgeons.
• My other interest is tertiary neonatal and pediatric surgery in the ZNA Queen Paola Children’s Hospital – GZA (Antwerp) – VUB (brussels) Saffier Network. We set-up dedicated programs for anorectal malformations, congenital lung anomalies, atresia, thoracic wall deformities,...
• I am part of a beautiful team of 11 surgeons (department of general, pediatric and thoracic surgery ZNA) and without this colleagues (friends) it would not be possible to have such an innovative and supporting atmosphere.
